Expected results of the project:

  • Knowledge of medical and aromatic plants (MAPs) habitats in the project area and its management needs is defined and deepness,
  • Awareness level of inhabitants in the cross border region regarding MAPs, their sustainable utilization for the protection of biodiversity and endangered MAPs raised;
  • Capacities of public institutions for enabling MAPs proper monitoring in Municipalities of Tropoia and Plav strengthened.

Target groups

  • Wild harvesters of the target area;
  • Local public institutions and NGO sector involved in the environmental protection;
  • Students of high schools;
  • Final beneficiaries are the population of targeted Municipalities, business operators and the academia.

Project area

  • Municipality of Plav, Montenegro; and
  • Municipality Tropoja, Albania.

Impact of the project

By strengthening the protection of biodiversity and endangered MAPs through improved knowledge, collection and processing practices, with the sustainable use of the potential of MAPs for local economies of the project area, more efficient and nature-friendly MAPs management will be ensured.
